the 'sc' combination in Old English is actually equivalent to a modern-day 'sh' sound, as in 'ship'. Also, the 'ea' in 'sceat' would be dipthong, so 'sceat' is actually pronounced 'sheyat' (all one syllable, kind of like "holy shaaaayat!"). Additionally, 'styca' is actually pronounced 'stick-ah' or 'stück-ah' or 'steck-ah', respectively, depending on whether your trying to go for an Anglian, West Saxon or Kentish pronounciation. :) great finds! I can only imagine the thrill.
