Accelerating the racquet requires a snap at the top of the swing. Without reference to biomechanics or names of this technique, telling time at the time of the swing will indicate a well placed snap.

This one is much more difficult than it sounds but when mastered you'll have unbelievable zip!

  • @philipsayshello2 - actually it occurs on both but at slightly different times and this may be the most difficult aspect to master

  • @JPMcLennan, great tip (putting the watch on your swinging hand). This help with understanding pronation? I'm curious about something. Do you pronate after contact with the ball or when you're about to hit it? This watch routine only works with the first serve (the flat serve), not the second serve (topspin serve). would that be correct??

  • @ramzen5 - not exactly - quite a few use the wrist to snap over the ball (wrong) but the best ones use the forearm to snap across the ball - Del Potro and Murray snap over - Federer and Sampras snap across

  • @jmillz99 - thanks but not at all a genius (if you meant that) simply one who was well coached
