Simply Lovely, Mario at the London Palladium in the year and also in the country I was born, then in 1959 he was gone. Just like my late mother, I adored the art and voice and the songs of great hope, and inspiration that was Mario Lanza .He may be long gone, but he will never ever be forgotten.

I have always loved Mario, being able to see him ' live' as it were shows me that he was brilliant. he had his problems but not at putting over a song. We can all sit in judgement of what might have been, but just listen to what was one of the best natural voices of all time. He inspired many a singer. Thankfully his recordings survive and are mostly of good quality. Opera style singers rarely make the jump to popular music or vice versa, few have success only exceptional artists.

absolutely the best tenor you could ever wish to hear... and one of the best singers of all time!! He is my Dad's all time hero and I grew up listening to him.. I didn't appreciate his voice at the time but if there's one voice now that can reduce me to tears or send shivers up my spine, it is his.

Extraordinary! Sublime!
I feel such nostalgia for these days (I never knew) where music was about the talent and generosity, not the ability of a team of sound engineers and make-up artists to make a firework out of nothingness and lot vanity. Imagine any singer today standing on a stage singing with a live orchestra by himself / herself, and nothing else to. It would be such a joke, but probably quite a wake-up call!
Thank goodness we have recordings like these to cherish.

I well remember my late father telling me of Mario`s impromptu performance outside the Palladium for fans who could`nt get tickets. A true gentleman & a rare talent. Thanks for putting this up..
