Elton shared this during a TV interview sometime in 1980. I apologize for the very poor quality. At the end, Elton says, "Rough stages, but we'll get there in the end."

  • Thanks for posing this again! I remember this being posted on YouTube and it got taken down. :[ BTW, aren't we LJ friends? ;D It's Adri!

  • Hey you! Yeah, luckily I got it before it was taken down. I would have lost it forever. :C

  • Beautiful song. One of his best. This version, the one just played above should be released. No overdubs, nothing. Just a clearer version of the audio. Love it.

  • Yes! I wish it had been released on an album. I really do love the emotions behind this song.

  • You are mistaken about the song never being released. Elton recorded the song in the French language. It was released only in Europe.

  • The melody later resurfaced as Les Aveux, yes. But this is the english version.

  • So sweet

  • @recordsmanukrnet "Les Aveux", the b-side to Donner Pour Donner.

  • @thespermdonor ok, so plz tell me how France Gall's song is called then if he used this melody? I mean it must be renamed by them I guess then

  • I need this song badly! Can anyone tell me, where I can get it?

  • @recordsmanukrnet The song wasn't complete but it would be in time. The melody was subsequently used for Les Aveux, his collaboration with French singer, France Gall.

  • @judmurph Hung drawn & down. And it might be the seed is broken, or maybe the scene.

  • What did he mean by saying "Rough stages, but we'll get there in the end"?

  • Sounds good to me. [Im hung drawn and down]. Beautiful song.

  • Trying to figure out the lyrics for the 2nd verse and could use some additional ears. Here's what I've got so far:

There's no need to please me

    I'm [h***] down

    We suffered the silence

    with feet on the ground

    [The seed] is unbroken

    so speak out your mind

We can seek our own counsel

    and weep as we find

  • Elton is so modest at the end, I think sometimes he has trouble believing in himself; he needn't, this song is beautiful, and so are many more of his, thanks EJ for everything!
