I've been trying to make this video for weeks now, but every time I tried to get the idea onto tape I would just get stuck going down some rabbit trail that didn't really reflect the heart of what I was trying to say. To get around this, I ended up having to just write it all out beforehand. If it sounds like I'm just reciting something I wrote, that's because I am. Sorry about that. Anyway, This is an idea that I've had on my mind a lot lately, and I'll probably end up talking about it a bit more in future videos. Hope you enjoy it, and I'd love to hear your opinion about whether or not we should be trying to change the world.

  • I believe it was Ghandi who said "Be the change that you want to see in the world."

    great vid, subbed.

  • @Steaksngainers That makes sense to me. We might not be able to directly control the world, but at the least we should (hopefully) be able to control ourselves. thanks for the comment.

  • Oh jesus!! I can't stop thinking about the pink elephant!! ARRGH!! GET IT OUT!! Meh, the game. GOD DAMN PINK ELEPHANTS.... *subbed*

  • @CamoonLee Sorry about that. It'll go away eventually (actually, It'll probably come right back as soon as you read this). On the topic of things that get stuck in your head - The next time you go to see a movie in a theater, try to ignore the little exit signs on each side of the screen :P

  • Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.- Margaret Mead Ignoring the horrible things in the world does not make them go away. i think you're over-thinking the desire to make change. we are making a positive impact when we act and think. i know its not an either or.

  • @danceandrevolution I agree that it is possible for our actions made with good intentions to have at least some positive net impact on the world, but unfortunately I don't think that there is any guarantee. I don't think this means that we shouldn't try to do good things, I just think that it means that fixing the world is not the point of doing good things.

  • very awesome.. Layed the smack down on that one..lol

  • Untill then, changes, changes, changes. Enjoy it, even if it's pointless, our brain gives a lot of funny substances as reward :)

  • The thing is that we solve all these problems and in the end get a better world, through mistakes that are all fixed by the same progress.

I'm not a fan of evolution and stuff like that actually, the world would be good enough with one single condition - a lot of drugs. But oh well, people are too limited to get rid of their natural tendencies to survive, evolve, reproduce. May be in some time we'll evolve to the point when we'll stop doing senseless things, or start doing less mistakes.

  • Change has got to have a start.

If you randomly hang up a poster,

containing the things you want to say to the world,

people might get inspired by it.

Then maybe THEY will change something.

Anyone can act as another mans catalyst.

  • Pink Elephants

  • @RustyXXKnife1 Sorry about that. When I was in college we always played that if someone confessed to loosing the game then that didn't count as a loss for the people that heard.
