After the engines came out of the engine house after a 12-hour nap, they were prepared for the day and coupled up to their trains.
Today, #90 is taking the hourly trains and #475 is taking the half-hour trains.
American Rail Videos takes you on board the 11:30 AM train, the first half-hour train of the day, pulled by Ex-Norfolk and Western #475, an 175-ton Class M 4-8-0, the only steam engine of her type currently operating in America! And, there's something special about #475 on this day: She's wearing a special whistle; her N&W 12 inch hooter whistle, different sounding and deeper toned than the regular 8 inch hooter.
In this video/part of our ride, our train will depart Strasburg and we will continue downhill until we get to Cherry hill. There, we will pass the regular hourly train, pulled by Ex-Great Western #90, a 2-10-0 Decapod, also the only steam engine of her type operating in America.
Catch the ghost whistle, the runaround and some of the return trip on part 2!
So sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of riding on a train pulled by a unique steam locomotive.

You are an artist.
Congratulations for the quality of the movie, also for the point of shooting.
I never saw a movie taken at this unusual point of view. You dont lose the loco(the great subject), nor the side views and landscapes. Score? 1000.
