MacArthur uses the 2 Tim passage to try to build a defense of the Sola Scriptura doctrine. The apostles who wrote the Bible did not believe in Sola Scriptura. If we look at a passage like II Thes 3:15 Therefore brethren stand fast and hold the traditions which you have learned...whether by word or by our epistles......the oral traditions the apostles conveyed to the churches were to be followed as authoritatively as the written epistles. Does MacArthur teach this?

When Jude says "to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints." The date of writing of Jude is somewhat uncertain but any reasonable estimate puts it before A.D. 95............so the cannon of scripture was not completed or assembled. when Jude wrote this. He could not have been talking about the Bible....yet MacArthur "assumes" that is what Jude is talking about.
