After countless hours of researching and converting and experimenting and reading... I FINALLY SOLVED THIS ISSUE!!!!

K-Lite Codec pack MAY BE NEEDED... just google/bing/ask/etc search "K-LITE CODEC PACK" for your Windows PC if your pc cannot play .M2TS files.

Please spread this video to anyone who may be having similar problems.

  • Very helpful video! Just one follow up question, which sequence presets should I use. I shoot my footage in widescreen, but when I try to import it comes in as 4:3. Thanks for the help!

  • @ExecutiveExteriors18 When you start a new project, you wanna pick the highest res in which you usually film in... if it's widescreen, select widescreen or a 16:9 res. It's hard to say when I don't know the camera. Are you importing directly from the camera into the pc or is it done via SD Card?

  • @Epic1 I have a JVC Everio with the import done via a SD card. I've been able to import my footage as a .MOD, and .m2ts, but every preset I've tried turns the footage to 4:3. My footage properties are 720X480, data rate of 8900 kbps and 29 frames/second. Thanks for the help!

  • @ExecutiveExteriors18 Well, I'm no expert so if what I'm about to suggest doesn't work I would consider some extensive google searching. But the way I did it was import to my computer first into my footage folder, THEN I went and changed the extensions from .MOD to .M2TS. THEN I opened up adobe premiere pro and imported them. Hope that helps.

  • Just FYI...I'm running PPro CS3. I transferred the files from the camera into a folder. Then I renamed the .TOD files with .avi. They import and play with no problems in CS3. It's an older version, I know, but just letting folks know! Thanx for the info, bro!

  • @MomentosPhotoVideo right on... hope this helps a lot of people!! =D thumbs up!!

  • What sequence should I use to edit the .m2ts files? every sequence I've tried has a red render bar, as well as a skipping preview screen. HELP!

  • I have downloded K-Lite Codec pack, and now i can open m2ts files with windows media player. Thanks.

However the problem is that the video images seems to appear slower than usal. The sound is o.k. tough.

How can i solve this problem? thanks.
