This was the BEST show on TV at the time. I agree at times you could be laughung your butt off and then the next crying your eyes out. Such as this incredible scene. All the writing and acting was SO natural and convincing. When Jessica died, I cried!! Boy did I cry!!

@fossefan I agree!!! I'm not sure if their friendship came BEFORE this show or during, but it was obvious Robert and Katherine'son screen chemistry was EXCELLENT. And "Benson" was DEFINITELY "Jessica's" BEST friend and confidant (except for her sis Mary). He certainly loved her (in the most genuine way).He would do just about anything for her.

This show was a comedy, and yet it had so many truly affecting moments like this. And what a talented group of actors! They were really outstanding.

You cited the first scene- I mean, the VERY FIRST scene- that made me fall in love with this series: the affirmation of Mary and Jessica. Though they were sisters, they were more each others' best friend and could not get along in the world without each other. Their love and closeness- most exemplified from this moment on into the 3rd season finale when a death and a birth were happening at the same time- was what really held the show together.

beautiful beautiful beautiful... when I used to watch soap as a kid i was always transfixed by mary and jessie ,,now i know why they are excellent actors..and the writing in this scene just rips your heart out and slams it against the wall and lets it slowely descend to the floor .. and then it gets kicked back up again..thanks for post

In my mind, Jessica should have ended up with Benson. Katherine and Robert's chemistry was off the charts.
