You guys, I hope everyone realizes that you are getting a guitar teacher that is way above what is normal on youtube. Professor Pebber Brown has rubbed shoulders with Allan Holdsworth, was roommates with Adam Kadmon, and Pebber has studied at all the guitar hot spots like GIT, Berkley, and Dick Grove. These are guitar lessons with some serious academic punch. This is so far beyond what is ever posted on youtube. This is guitar history right here. Right now before our eyes. Lucky! Lucky!

It kind of confuses (and amuses) me, all these special made-up terms (e.g. 3NPS, which I'd never heard of until today) for "Playing Fast" and all that. I mean, if you just (1) learn basic music theory; then (2) apply logic, then all of this stuff comes naturally. These 3NPS type things just teach you music piecemeal; you may learn a few neat tricks, but it doesn't teach you music as an organic whole, nor what a great instrument the gutiar is for perceiving the relative circularity of music.

@doublej706 I'm just a Music Theory buff. Its what I DO.

Thanks for clearing that up. Fretboard Logic has made me a pattern oriented guitarist.. instead of one that knows his theory.

@doublej706 Diatonic = Dia (through) Tonic (Tonality) The term diatonic originally referred to the diatonic genus, one of the three genera of the ancient Greeks. The diatonic scale has specific properties that mark it out among seven-note scales. There are five seven-note scales in 12 equal temperament tonality. 3NPS refers strictly to physical finger patterns on the guitar neck - they can be used for any seven-note scale, of which Diatonic is ONE of them.

you can create 3nps with the diatonic scale if you visualize all the different positions together, right? or maybe I'll just shutup and keep playing my guitar..
