  • Hi, thanks for the tutorial. I have some CCM Vector 04 roller hockey skates, but I cant get the laces to go tight enough to give me any decent ankle support? I have tried the metal hook, it helps but still hasnt sorted my problem.

If I take the insole out of my skate, it matches the size of my foot almost exactly, so I assume they are the correct size. I have only worn them twice, could this be why? Thanks.

  • @PerfectedMonkey Are these your first pair of inline skates? If not, what others have you worn?

  • @DoubleEdge013 These are my first pair of Hockey skates. I previously wore 'aggresive' skates. So basically a plastic boot with a strap at the top to keep the boot tight.

Because the ankle is loose, when i stand on the skates they are at an angle to the wheels are leaning out. If that makes sense?

  • @PerfectedMonkey And the plastic boot on the "aggresive" skates went a bit higher on your ankle and supported it in a different way?

  • @DoubleEdge013 It was a long time ago I had the aggresive skates to be honest. I've recently been able to take up roller hockey again, so I decided to buy my first pair of hockey skates.

As far as I can remember, the aggresive skates didnt come that much higher over the ankle than my hockey skates do?

But I can certainly move my foot more in the hockey skates, to the point if I stand still on the skates the wheels are slanted outwards, and I don't feel confident balance wise? :o(

  • @PerfectedMonkey Without being able to see the way the skates fit you, I'm thinking it's the difference in stye of skate. If your foot is close to the size of the insert, then you might be able to go one size smaller, but if it's that close, I don't think it would make that much of a difference.

Think about it like this: I've worn hockey skates all my life. But if I took up speed skating, I might have a bit of a transition because they are different skates. Especially around the ankle.

  • @DoubleEdge013 I think I will try a size smaller as the skates are loose to the point my ankles ache after only playing a few minutes. If that doesn't work then I think you may be right about the different styles.

    Thank you for your advice!
