Okay, so back in 1980 something-or-other, a teenage me is sitting by the radio, waiting for KissFM to play any hot jam so's I can record it (stop. you know you did it too.) All of a sudden, I hear Special Ed's voice and what sounds like the opening beat of "Come on, let's move it," and I hit "record" on my boom box cassette deck.
But wait. That's not the original version of "let's move it." It's a remix. Sigh. I hate remixes. But as I listen, I think to myself, you know, this ain't half bad. As a matter of fact, it's pretty damn good.
So I let the deck run, and I record a remix of "Come on, let's move it" that I've never heard played anywhere else except my recording. Can't find it on vinyl, cassette, CD's, or MP3.
So for your enjoyment, my old school heads, I give you a rare remix of Special Ed's "come on let's move it." A completely different groove than the original, but give it a chance. Maybe it'll grow on you like it did on me.
And if anyone has any info about this cut, speak out!

  • @pbase36, how do u digitize ur tapes to the computer or cd, what program do u use? i got tapes from Hot97 from back n da day n old mix tapes from when they first came out n dont no what program 2 use or find 2 get online, than alot if u can help me.

  • @sam62273 For me, it's a convoluted process. I have my tape deck plugged into my computer with an RCA to 1/8 mini phono adapter cord from Radio Shack. I use Quicktime to record the audio, and then Soundedit (for Mac) to edit and enhance the audio.

There are simpler solutions. Just do a search for "cassette to MP3" and you'll see easier options.

  • pbase 36, i used to do the same thing. i grew up in long island back in the eighties and every weekend i would record the hott new exclusives(mr.magic rap attack, red alert, even the college stations 89u).do you have the "get off the bandwagon" remix by epmd?? since you have this rare remix i was just wondering

  • Jabron, it's possible that I have that remix. I still have about 75 cassettes to dig through and digitize. I'll put that on my list, and post it if I come across it.
