I didn't compare him to Bowie. Adam Lambert compared himself to Bowie in an interview & Bowie never did that type of stuff on tv...in live shows yes...but this is television - not appropriate.

I don't know about the "vast majority", but to me, it was not because of guy on guy.

Any performer (girl/guy) who grinds a persons head into their crotch OR who literally acts out forceful aggressive Sex Acts in detail & thinks it will be an entertaining show for other humans is mistaken!

I was looking forward to the Adam Sexy & really looking forward to the Adamtastic Voice. All I got was Nasty Raunch.

but, the only reason he got so criticized, as opposed to any number of other performers who do exactly the same kind of thing was because it was a gay scenario. if you don't want to see raunchy sex or kink (which i don't either) in mass entertainment, then you need to equally criticise all of the many other performers who do that, and not just the gay ones. maddonna, brittney spears & on & on. i know there are many, but i can't list them all because i'm not into that kind of music.

isn't what adam lambert did equivalent to anything madonna or brittney spears does? i don't appreciate any of that sexual kink. actually, i dislike it. but, i think people reacted so strongly to adam's performance, as opposed to the others just because the sexuality was gay. so, i think the criticism is basically about homophobia.

I'm all for theatre and show and Adam Lambert is an amazing talent but regardless of your own preferences kids' should be protected from overt displays like this. Not because homosexuality is wrong but because the American Idol audience includes a lot of young kids. So why shouldn't young kids see full-on perfformances like that?  Cos you are only a kid for a short time. Leave the adult stuff for an adult audience.
