Since the collapse of Thomastown Weir in 2008, our club has been greatly impeeded. Our flatwater training pond upriver of the weir has disappeared. This was ideal for marathon and sprint training as there was a 3km stretch of flat, deep water, perfect for the very expensive and fragile racing kayaks. Also the playwave which once stood at the base of the weir has been lost. This was a huge focal point for freestyle kayakers in the southeast, who often spent weekends in Thomastown, attracted by the weir. This video is a short compelation made by TPCC in an attempt to highlight how much of a loss the weir has been to the canoeing fraternity. PLEASE RESTORE THIS BEAUTIFUL WEIR
