A Broadway revival directed by Jerry Zaks and starring Peter Gallagher, Faith Prince, Nathan Lane and Josie de Guzman, played at the Martin Beck Theatre from April 14, 1992 to January 8, 1995 for 1,143 performances. The production received a rave review from Frank Rich in The New York Times, stating "It's hard to know which genius, and I do mean genius, to celebrate first while cheering the entertainment at the Martin Beck."[8]. It won four Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical and also won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revival.

The color is excellent and so is the clip. I love musicals.

Daniel, Don Reed posted twice. Once about singing and once about repetition. I combined my answer. He seems a bit of a know it all, and am not getting into an endless back and forth with him. Peter

This is an interesting argument, since Don Reed was criticizing the singing, not talking about when Guys and Dolls was written. He should have said that in his reply to you. I also find wikipedia to be accurate. Yes, anyone can write anything on wikipedia, but the information is checked by editors and it is sourced, so you can go to the sources. If something is wrong and someone says so, it is usually changed.

Don, but I am an idiot for replying to you. Not buying a book, I can happily mooch. Re; Wikipedia. It is simple, fast and I would say 90 - 95% accurate. I can get a sense of a person or event. If I needed scholarly accuracy on a subject, I would obviously use scholarly sources.

Your message reminds me once again that idiots quote from Wikipedia (where anyone can write anything & post it), thinking that what you're reading comes from a reliable source.

If you need information about Broadway musicals, stop mooching on the Internet.

BUY a copy of "Opening Night On Broadway, A Critical Quotebook of the Golden Era of the Musical Theatre, Oklahoma! (1943) to Fiddler on the Roof (1964)," by Steven Suskin (Macmillan 1990).

The expense will do you good.

Why do you waste your time on YouTube, just to criticize? Check Wikipedia to see when Guys and Dolls was written. However both shows are by Frank Loesser. If you listen to films whose musical scores were written by Dimitri Tiomkin, you can hear his hand at work. It does not diminish anything.

This needs to be brought back....I was serving in the military on the dates it was on Broadway, I feel slighted!

Sorry, didn't make myself clear; we both agree that it seems that HTSIB plagiarized Guys & Dolls; your chronology is correct. Is the Guys & Dolls the first show to do this? Don't know.

It is impossible that "Good luck with the Mets this year" can be construed as a "snotty" remark. You've accused a fellow Mets fan of bad manners. Head scratcher. Inexplicable. Good day.

That would be a good point, except How to succeed came out in 1961 and Guys and Dolls came out in 1950. No need for that snotty "Mets" comment. Just enjoying some theater videos online, no need for fights.
