The Artist 2011 Movie Review.  Beyond The Trailer host Grace Randolph gives you the low-down on The Artist starring Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo, directed by Michel Hazanavicius!  Then get a BTT Crew Review of The Artist, a major contender for the 2012 Oscars!  Will The Artist get an Oscar nod for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor?  Enjoy The Artist hitting theaters in 2011! Beyond The Trailer is associated with YouTube Next Lab.

SPOILER - Apparently, many silent film stars were immigrants and had thick accents. The Artist takes advantage of this history and Jean Dujardin's character has a thick french accent, which is why he is so opposed to doing talkies.

  • the fuck is that blackguy talking about?

  • @SatchmoSings Just because you don't like silent and black&white movies doesn't mean everyone must share your opinion. I've seen all the movies that were selected, and The Artist was clearly the best out of the bunch.

  • grace , you are pretty and smart, very cool

  • and in case you are wondering I am european, portuguese and I'm an artist. (painter)

  • This is not a problem of where you studied , though I agree it is a major fault. But you also have to be more curious. Specially if you are making reviews. And it seems to me that you and one of your guests that are commenting on this video are missing the point. "making the story more modern" "the story too simple" "titanic"?!? this movie is one of the most avant-guard things (which is kind of ironic) that have shown up in many years. It will make history watch more movies and then review.

  • I'm sorry, but I think it is very unfortunate that someone Who is american and studied film doesn't know basic movie history, and makes film reviews. I am neither american nor have I studied film, nor am I a "film geek", I just enjoy movies, and I knew this and most people I know Know this. Even Chaplin had problems with transitioning to talkies. This is why 2 of his grandaughters are part of the events promoting the movie. this is why R.D.jr who played chaplin presented at the GG . Watch E!

  • Who the fuck doesn't like black and white movies?

  • i dont understand how u talk about these important flaws of the movie but still give it a 9... o.O im not saying its bad, i havent seen it yet... im watching it tonight... i am 20 and i have never seen a silent film
