nice video, a few of the places arnt in abergavenny like crickhowell and clydach, that pub at 1:20 has burnt down now aswell

i live in abergavenny... its fucking AWFUL.. terrible place to live.. been looking for this song for ages for a laugh! i thought my mum was messing around when she said there was an abergavenny song.. :S

I was 9 when this song came out and used to sing it with my da and sis (both passed more than 30 years ago). We heard the lyrics as 'Africa, Benny' and as we had a cat named Benny, it made sense to us :~)
Tracked this down via a 'misheard lyrics' website, so glad I found it again. I was in Wales less than a month after 9/11, I wish I had known about it then. Wales seemed such a safe and pleasant place at that time, like nothing bad would happen to you there..

Brilliant. I was only a kid when this came out. That year we went to Wales for our annual family holiday and this song came on the car radio as we drove through Abergavenny of all places. It was a beutiful sunny day too. What a graet start to a holiday.
