It's Sunday, February 14, 2010, and I'm here on Heartbreak Hill in Newton, Massachusetts, training to run the Boston Marathon 64 days from now on April 19, 2010.
It's cold and windy outside today. And this hill sure is steep. But you know, this is nothing compared to the long, difficult uphill climb that children with cancer have ahead of them. They're in the toughest race of all, the race for a full recovery and a future completely free of disease.
That's why I'm training on Heartbreak Hill. That's why in just 64 days I'll be running the Boston Marathon for Christopher's Haven, a home away from home for children being treated for cancer at MassGeneral Hospital for Children in Boston. And that's why Im asking you to please go to http://www.firstgiving.com/bobcargill and give as much as you possibly can afford.
I'll appreciate it. But -- believe me -- the kids and families who are staying at Christopher's Haven will appreciate it even more. It's on their behalf that I thank you so much for your support.
