Comedian Charlie Hill (Oneida of Wisconsin) and actress Kateri Walker (Saginaw Chippewa and First Nations Ojibway) travel around Hollywood searching for signs of American Indians. Also featured in the cast are Arigon Starr (Kickapoo/Creek) and Sue Marilit (Anashinabe) Of all the so-called "minorities" in Hollywood, Native Americans have the lowest rate of employment (0.5%). Yet each year more Indians come to Hollywood looking for work. This film is a tribute to those who, despite overwhelming odds, try to follow their dreams. The world premiere of this film was at the 2009 LA SkinsFest in Hollywood. A shorter, earlier version was shown at the 2008 First Americans In the Arts Awards.

Yes, at the Los Angeles SkinsFest Native American Film Festival in November. And I don't believe his life's work has reached its peak yet either.

  • YES! i am so happy you mentioned bob hicks! i dont think people know about him and how much he has done for native actors. he also have a GREAT movie i believe EVERY american citizen should see. it's called "return of the country." i hope you have seen and encourage others to see it too.

I wished I had more time in the video to devote to Bob Hicks and all that he has done in Hollywood for Indian people. I have a copy of "Return Of The Country" which is a classic film. It should be seen by everyone

I also lament not being able to mention so many others who have had an impact in the native community in Hollywood for so long, like Zahn McClarnon, Larry Sellars, Larry Smith, Ian Skorodin, Sheri Foster, Geraldine Keams, Casey Camp, Shawna Clay, Joe Diaz, .....

  • ...Tim Sampson, Monty Bass, Phyllis Rose, Rodney Grant, Sheldon Wolfchild, Russell Means, Dennis Banks, Donna Talamentes, Vernon Holquin, Valerie Red-Horse, Michael Horse, Elena Finney, Kathy Peltier, Anne Begay, Sheila Tousey, Gary Farmer, Delanna Studi, Bird Runningwater, Duane Champagne, Ron Andrade, and so many others.

  • Sorry, this is not a dating service and we don't release information about the private lives of people who appear in our pictures.

  • Yes, they are, and even better than that, both are smart, very talented and funny.

  • Thanks for the information. We tried to do as much documentation as we could, but as to who's Indian and who's not it sometimes is very hard to tell. Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

  • Actually, Johnny Cash had no Native American ancestry. For a long time he believed he was a quarter Native American, but found that he was almost entirely of Scottish descent. Nevertheless, Johnny still did alot to advance Indian causes.
