Does anyone know if the yellow spectacles he has on in this vid are those ones in the glass case in the Beatles Museum in Liverpool? I think they are, they look like. I cried the first time I ever saw them in real life. LOL

It took some doing to find the second segment of your comment but find it I did. :)

I too am a major fan of the band, although I regrettably missed them on Ed Sullivan in 1964 because I was "in utero". I appeared just in time for the release of "A Hard' Days Night" though and vaguely remember some of their late period, more so the songs than the persona of the band. I have not read the book you highly recommended, but now that I know about it will most likely check it out. Thanks.

(cont)..."Tomorrow Never Knows" were Ringo-isms that John turned into songs and song titles. The main "contributions" that Ringo brought to the band besides his drumming skills were his wit and good humor which were probably more important than they readily appeared.

I just noticed in my above comment that I said Ringo's self-written songs "was" when I obviously should've said "were". Sorry - my bad. Why do people say "my bad" these days anyway? It's weird, but I guess it's okay. : )

Nope WacoBurning - I was specifically referring to "Don't Pass Me By", Ringo's monster smash from the White Album! :D

Actually Yellow Submarine is a Lennon/McCartney song - written wholly by McCartney. Ringo sang it though of course. Ringo's only self-written songs in The Beatles was Don't Pass Me By & Octopus' Garden. His "major" contributions were his drumming, which was perfect for the Beatles' style, and his general presence. You do know that the phrases "A Hard Day's Night" and...(more)

Major contributions from Ringo, do you mean lyrically? Other than the two aquatic songs about a submarine and an octopuss?!

MrS... thanks for the feedback. I felt you came down to hard on Macca when you said McCartney take over of the Band in '57 was a disaster. When in fact they want on to record some of the most extraordinary music ever produced in all of rock and roll history. That my friend cannot be denied. I know quite a bit about this group. Ive read all the books, listened to all of their recordings. i recommend ...The Evolving Artistry of the Beatles.. my favorite book about this incredible band. (more)
