I'm 21 and I had this surgery done last July. I anticipated alot of pain right after but it just felt like a bit of a sore throat. I was eating 2 hours after the surgery once the anaesthesia wore off and was discharged the following day. When recovering, the utmost important thing is to drink ALOT of cold water. It helps ease the pain and helps keep the scabs soft when they start to fall off, minimising bleeding.

O_O I was 12 and Iwas put to sleep while they took out my tonsils.. I thought they just do a couple *snip snips* and done. NO F-ING WONDER MY THROAT BURNED SO MUCH WHEN I WOKE UP. First thing i said when i woke up was "WHERE IS MY POPSICLE?!!!!"

omg...i now understand why they suggest KIDS get it done..they forget the pain once they are grown...i had this mess done at 19 (im 26 now) and i still remember that pain...ughhh...oh and p.s people, the crap about "you can eat all the cold stuff (ice cream) you want..is a LIE!! lol...it hurts so bad after that you dont even want to swallow your own spit!...so good luck to you guys that have to get it done :)
