Sep 2nd 2007 - Jakarta Indonesia - The Rabbani Naqshbandi Whirling Dervishes of Indonesia perform at an event they held in honor Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, who was visiting Indoensia where there are over 37 Naqshbandi Centers and tens of thousands of Naqshbandi Students. Shaykh Hisham and at the direction of Shaykh Nazim Adil Al-Haqqani started incorporating practices of other sufi Tariqah like whirling into Naqshbandi in the belief that this is the time where all ways merge into one "the Muhammadan Way"

  • Naqshbandis don't whirl, their silsilah is built upon silent dhikr.

  • Minipris, The wisdom behind shaykh Nazim's authorization for naqshbandis to whirl and do hadrah is to attract the youth who spend their time playing video games, watch bolliwood/holywood movies and listen to wrap music. How interrested you think they will be to sit down and do silent zikr. Sufism is not rigid, Some Sufis are.

  • May ALLAH ALMIGHTY give any of you who doubt sufism and its practices HIDAYAH from his divine mercy... AMEEN

  • Pagan, if you are really sincere to know about Sufism it is all about self purification and geting closer to THE CREATOR and our Beloved RASULULLAAH SAW. We must stay clean in our hearts, do not judge others, do not criticise others, have good mannerism, respect others regardless of their race and beliefs, do not cheat others, do not be arrogant, aggressive,do not have bad thought, purifyng ourselves and always remember that ALLAAH SWT is watching directly at us.

  • @Minipris Loud Dhikr, Whirling, Hadra and anything else is from other tariqa as my Master is the master of the 40 Tariqas Alhumduhlilah

  • @sufi92 silent zikar?? sorry wrong!!

  • See this site to view proofs of sufi dance in Wajd, ecstasy and swoon from Quran and Hadiths

replace ( . ) with only . in between and copy paste in adress bar

  • If music was unislamic, Allah (swt) wouldn't have given Daud the gift of Psalms (etymologically, a wind instrument). Sufism is about losing materialism and arrogance, while alcohol leads to losing sanity and manners; vast difference.

  • simply ,magnificent

  • people who say "Sufism it is all about self purification and geting closer to THE CREATOR and our Beloved RASULULLAAH" and this whirling dance of Sufism is to get tasawwuf forget everything and vision the god" should know that we are only allowed to loose our mind and forget everything while we are praying with SALAH not with anything else at all!! yeah but this dance and Sufism is beautiful and part of a great culture and heritage of Islam .. for sure !!

  • this is turkish sufi music .not indonesia..

  • When I checked the South African Ulama's website they said that "while Tasawwuf is based on the Qur'aan and Sunnah, in every era there were those Sufis whose practices contradicted the Qur'aan and Sunnah, because of whom Tasawwuf was at times given a bad name.

Keeping this in mind, whichever statement of the Salaf you come across, in criticism of Tasawwuf, , then remember that this was said in the context of the Tasawwuf which is against the Qur'aan and Sunnah, not regarding true Tasawwuf.

  • Salam. Read Hadith Jibraeel look at what the Holy Prophet (s) said about Islam and Iman then look at your life and everything you know about the deen. Then read the third bit about Ihsaan and then look at your life once again. You just need to realise one elemental point that the destination of the sufis is to reach a point in their spiritual journey where they are able to vision Allah within their prayers. And these zikr are the means of reaching to that lofty state of Ihsan which is the goal.
