Taking my 4yr old XC schooling for the first time:)!

This is my four year old welsh cob x irish draught, Jumanji, x country schooling for the first time ever!
I've never been xc before either so it took me a wee while before I figured out the best way to ride the fences!
(and yeah... I still completely failed hahaha!)
So please no crit on my riding, I know it's absolutely awful! I'm really not very good :/ But he's only a baba and I really didn't think he was gonna jump what he did! He jumped absolutely everything, he did stop at the first few (but jumped second time round) think he was just a bit shocked at the whole scenario! and the first fence we tried was a ditch, and he's never seen one before, yeh. I'm wise ;D haha! So yeah vv brave clever pony putting up with me!
I only backed him a year before this, so he's still figuring everything out, I'm just trying to make sure he enjoys all he does! Which he is :) So hopefully do more of this as he really seemed to enjoy his wee self!
I do love my boy :) He's such an honest wee soul!

Okay I ban myself from long descriptions! so this is gonna be a shortie! (since the video makes up for longness!)
This is BOTH our first ever times cross country!!
So Mandy and I hired out Greenfield of Avondale's cross country course on Friday night! It's accross the road from my sisters house and like 2 mins from mine! We had SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun!! :P!
Took us like 25 mins to get baby face loaded! haha then we set off :) It was a lovely sunny night! go there, got them out the trailer, he stands cool as a tomato, and we get tacked up ect. warm up, and then get on the course!! Now i must say, Jay stopped at almost everything once to have a look (even though I had already showed him the fence) but you know, he had to be sure, as he once heard this story about his mate who jumped a fence and a gremlin jumped out and bit his bum, so he's gotta be awful careful you see :)
But then he jumped everything!! And in the video's some of these fences don't look big, but seriously! they were massive! and that chair thing and the rolltop and the house were SOO wide! But he just flew them! He realllyy enjoyed himself! pulled me into almost everything he could see! was such a good wee lad!
Star was also AMAZING! He's not been jumping for very long, and when I say not long I mean like a week!! but Mandy done SOO well with him, and he LOVED cantering around :L and jumping the steps! and water! haha
But they were both soo good really really enjoyed it!
And we never realised till we were there but there's no time limit on the course! we could have stayed out the whole night if James and my dad hadn't got cold haha! it was really great! :D
So please do excuse the AWFUL riding from me, I really do pity the poor pony!
He's having a day off today to chillax in his field and I'll just check he's alright tomorrow too probobly and he can have 2 or 3 days off :)
And the end? leaping over the river? How funny :L!! hahahahhaha!
i could feel it coming, I KNEW he was thinking of doing it! haha! took me like 5 mins to get him back over this side aswell :L! ahah
But it was great :D then ont he way home we stopped in the wee town and got an indian for dinner, got to the yard, put horses out, sorted out trailer and all our stuff, then sta in the wee kitchen room and had our dinner! (it was half 11 by the time we left the yard that night haha) but it was legendry :)
definitely have to book it again!
So we've got Galston show next weekend, and Mandy can't go! :O So It'll be the first time I'm taking Jay to a show without her! Ekkk! but looking forward to it :D

@Hanhorselovernah First, thank you so much! :D hehe! And, every horse is different and what I did might not work with your horse, but basically - don't push anything, give him plenty time to see everything and work it all out himself, keep everything calm and relaxed, and make sure it's fun, always end on a good, confident note. Don't interfeire with him too much, let him work himself out, just sit balanced and there for support. :) And most of all, have fun but be safe :D You'll be fine! xxxxx

I absolutely ADORE the ammount of praise you give the little fella!! It's like after absolutely everything he does for you your first response is to tell him he's been a good lad, it's like you don't even have to think about it! It's sooo nice to see!
