Ann Pennington was very popular and known as the most petite (4' 9" tall) of what was then called the "Shake and Quiver dancers." Became famous for her rendition of the Black Bottom dance. She began her career on Broadway as a member of the chorus in The Red Widow (1911) and made her debut in the Ziegfeld Follies in 1913, She actually stopped the show when she danced for Ziegfeld in his 1913 Follies.
