Crochet Circle to Square

Size I Crochet Hook

Start with Magic Circle

*NOTE: When your square is complete, make sure you pull your magic circle tight and secure it with a couple of knots. Sew your tails in. The magic circle is crocheting over the yarn so if you don't make secure knots, the tail could come out and your stitches will come apart during the a wash cycle.

Round 1: CH 2, 19 HDc in loop. Join in beg CH 2. (20 Half-Double Crochet)

Round 2: CH 2, HDC in ea ST around. Join in beg CH 2. (20 Half-Double Crochet)

Round 3: CH 2, HDC in same St. 2 HDC in EA ST around. Join in beg CH 2. (40 Half-Double Crochet) Cut yarn to change color. Make sure you sew in the tail when your square is complete.

Round 4: Attach new color to any previous HDC.(This will form the square. The next stitches will be worked across 10 stitches) CH 3, DC in same ST. DC in next, HDC in ea of the next 2 STS, SC in ea of the next 2 STS. HDC in ea of the next 2 STS, 1 DC in next ST, 2 DC in next ST. *CH 2, 2 DC in next ST. DC in next, HDC in ea of the next 2 STS, SC in ea of the next 2 STS. HDC in ea of the next 2 STS, 1 DC in next ST, 2 DC in next ST.* Repeat from * to * 3 times. CH 1, SC in BEG CH 3.

Round 5: CH 3, DC in same sp. DC in ea ST across. In the corner CH 2 SP, work: 2 DC, CH 2, 2 DC, continue around to beginning corner space. 2 DC in space, CH 2, Join. Cut yarn and change color.

Round 6: CH 1, *3 SC in CH 2 SP. 1 SC in EA ST across* Repeat from * to * 4 times. Join in BEG SC. Sew in tails.

  • This was super helpful, but how do you tie in the middle? I'm not great at tying in ends, whether it be on the outside or inside. Help please

  • @Squshie00 When you are in the middle, you will need to carefully tie the knot closely between your stitches. It is possible to achieve tying it between the stitches. Once you get it secure, you will sew the tails between the stitches.
