ofcourse now I can not find the site...it was on one of the job search engine. Now that I searched on google for "average nursing informatics salary" I found the average listed between 56.000-78.000. I make 78.000 now as a staff nurse- I can't see myself taking a pay cut when I just paid all of this money into a masters program...

I'm currently thinking of going into nursing informatics. My background is in Computer Science and working on a Med Surg unit. Do you have any recommendation on what I need to prepare before presuing a master degree in nursing informatics? BTW, the video is very informative. Thank You. :)

Thank you for loading this video! I am currently a Master of Nursing student at University of Washington in Tacoma majoring in Healthcare Leadership. I have always been very inquisitive about nursing informatics. I found it to be very interesting with your video. I might pursue this study in my PhD, after I graduate in my MN study next year.

I am enrolled in my masters in nursing informatics, and when I search for national avarage salary, the results show 46.000/rs. That is almost half as much as I make as an RN- is this right?

@doglottmacska1 In my experience the salary is at or very much above that of a staff nurse. Can you tell me where you read the salary information?

Thanks for posting this, I am very interested in this field of nursing. I am a practicing RN in Canada (5 years) and it does not seem to be a well known field here. Can you give me some guidance on how to get my foot in the door of this? How competitive is this program at Duke?

@soapvivor Hello, you can try to get a job in an information technology department or maybe where you work might be interested in a position for an informatics nurse educator, who would provide support and education for the nursing staff. The program at Duke is excellent, it is not easy and it takes alot of study. Their program includes the best of both worlds; online and on campus sessions. Good luck in your pursuit.
