@01debrc Don't believe everything ethnosify says. He is wrong about the origin of the word Cherokee. He is a separtist and a racist. Cherokees have worked with, mixed with and traded ideas with each other since the beginning. Most choose to be Americans like all of us. One of thier strengths was to recognize and adopt good ideas from other cultures. A white man was appointed chief by one leader - look up Thomas' legion for some interesting history

@ethnosify This is not true. TSalgi os a Cherokee adaptation of the French butchered form of what the Choktaw called teh Cherokee - cave dwellers. The Cherokee called themselfs "the principle people", another example of the egotisim among the tribes.

@ethnosify I was impressed that the Cherokees were quick to adopt a Euopean style of written communication, since before that they were like all the other stone age people on the continent.

@ethnosify First,she is as much European as Cherokee. Second,Cherokees are a conquered people, who should become American. Third, I know Cherokee history enough to know that they were gravely betrayed and mistreated by Andrew "jackass" Jackson, since I have Cherokee ancestry. We should take the ones who don't want to work together and dump them back in Asia where they belong. Then the rest of us can work on a united better future.

@TEB1952 There is no reason to LIE about ethnicity OR CITIZENSHIP to a CHEROKEE TRIBE, as RITA has. Cherokees WERE?!? WE ARE AND WILL REMAIN LONG AFTER YOU HAVE GONE. People wannabe for money and strive to SEEK fame through cherokee culture every day. They revise HISTORY AND our ways to suit their own agenda. There IS reason to be jealous of all Native people here because this IS our homeland OUR place you are visiting.

01debrc dear deb, Cherokee is a french/spanish adaptation of TSalGI, since they could not pronounce it then, or probably now. Look at the Cherokee alphabet to see a real American alphabet. You ask if we should have our own passports and freedom to travel as Cherokee? The answer would be yes. That is one of the reasons why we have federal recognition ID numbers and not bogus club tribes.

dear 01debrc, it would be nice to be reimbursed for my research. ( Rita is the only one responsible for paying me ) . Their are many sources on the net and at the churches where her father has propagated sermons. All the other information you can find in her hometown.
