It doesn't mean anything in particular - it's just a way of communicating with the camera in the absence of facial expressions.

The song is called 'Nothing Else", it's by the Anglo/French band 'Archive'.

Thank you for this stunning video. My young son had just read a children's book about Carnival in Venice and we looked on the internet to find a video for him-- the first one we found was your beautiful, magical video! My son was totally captivated and moved and so was I. The song is so beautiful and the overall effect of your video conveys an emotion beyond just people in masks. Beautiful!
