@AryanPersianProdigy Ok thanks :)

@WeirdoDeWahoo They are in the same language family, branch Indo-Iranian, under the Indo-European language family. Dari is simply the dialect of modern Persian spoken in Afghanistan. Persian and Dari (Persian) are mutually intelligible, meaning a Persian speaker from Iran would be able to at least understand what an Afghani person is saying in Dari (and vice versa)

isn't it so that farsi and dari are almost the same language..? my boyfriend was born in afganistan but he lived most of his childhood in iran, and he speaks both farsi and dari. as far as i understand there are just some few words that are pronounsed differently or are written in different way. someone argued with me about this so i'm not sure if i'm wrong or right but i assume that my boyfriend knows better than some other people who just want to make themselves look smart :D

@Sunshinesrays1 Valid statement, except we Persians speak PARSI. "Farsi" is a result of cultural infiltration. The Arabs couldn't pronounce the "P" when they invaded so they changed it to "F"..why we choose to assimilate to their discrepancy, I will never understand.

of course there are NON PERSIANS in IRAN. Iran has a myriad of diff. ethnicities.
The days of the PERSIAN empire are long gone. Tajikistan has tajiks and afghanistan has afghans (as well as other ethnicities too).
Heratis though do have many similarities to Persians...but they are afghans...and speak dari NOT FARSI
:))

@Sunshinesrays1 not really, there are also Persians in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, and there are also non-Persians in Iran
