This song, written in 1962 (lyrics by Myles Rudge, music by Ted Dicks), was a big hit for Bernard Cribbins. I was fascinated by this song as a young teenager, trying to visualise the object Fred and Charlie were attempting to move. I remember there was another great song sung by Bernard Cribbins called "Gossip Calypso" which I thought was on the B-side of this single, but in fact they were separate recordings. The B-side of this was a song called "Quietly Bonkers".

This song, which inspired the name of a pop group, is well known by Australians in their thirties as it was included in a widely used school song book about twenty years ago.

This is one of only two videos I have made with my son, Kit, the other being the song "To Morrow."

  • Please! Tune your guitar, play the right cords and don't give up your day jobs.

  • Sorry. I don't do video tutorials. I don't consider myself a good enough guitarist. However, lyrics and chords of my songs can be found on my website: raymondcrookeDOTcom
