Midnight Express 1978 - Hayes Judgement

Hayes was a young American student sent to a Turkish prison for trying to smuggle hashish out of Turkey. The movie deviates from the book's accounts of the story, especially in its portrayal of Turks, to such a level that many have criticized the movie version, including Billy Hayes himself. Later, both Oliver Stone and Billy Hayes expressed their regret on how Turkish people were portrayed in the movie.

@24jamestown nope they weren't turks, but u are a racist, come to turkey and see what is real. definitely blatantly misrepresented movie. i live in Turkey, and have never seen something like this, and I, my family, my friends don't live as this arabic looking "fake Turkish" ones.- so lots of people. And most of Turks don't give a fuck this movie, since 1978. ;)

@24jamestown Ok now you are making yourself look stupid. The fact they chose to change Billy Hayes' true story to make this movie shows they were trying to portray Turkey in a very negative light. You are wrong about the actors, they are not Turkish. They speak so bad that real Turks can hardly understand one word they are saying. By all means enjoy this film, but don't deny it portrays Turks and Turkey negatively. Heck even Billy Hayes himself said so.
