Faulkes was organist at St John's Tuebrook in Liverpool in the early 20th century and wrote some really good pieces for the organ which make excellent voluntaries. This striking piece is based on the plainsong 'Urbs Beata' and is most effective, apart from a couple of awkward bars of 5/4 time!

  • @hastings1553 Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you like it. I hope to get some more recordings when I am back at home! It is a lovely organ, just 14 stops but you can play anything on it.

  • What a great performance of a wonderful piece of music (which is new to me), on a fine instrument. Thanks for posting this. I hope you will do more of the same. Best wishes!
