@idxrider That's not the spirit of things! The point is: If you get Odin on Disc 4, you don't get Gilgamesh. And Gilgamesh, albeit quite useless in battle, is one of the most awesome characters in the series, and maybe the only one that ever appeared in more than one game. If you get him here, it's like you resurrect him. And that's more of a divine act than any mysterious god in FFVIII, whoever he is, could ever do.

@MeingroessterFan i could tell you, but then i wouldn't find it highly amusing by the fact that this game came out over a decade ago and you never knew there was a god/deity. but the REAL loser (or should i say losers) are the ones who grab odin from the get go. got a problem with him coming out when you're trying to draw magic? then it's simple; don't get him then. by disc 4 you won't be needing to draw magic from enemies anyways. if you wanted, you could have the strongest spells in disc 1

@idxrider How can you win if there isn't even a contest? And I didn't rage at all, I was completely calm. Also, there are no gods in this world, so Odin isn't anything more than Gilgamesh, in fact, at least Gilgamesh really existed, and Odin is the result of the imagination of some drunken vikings.
