Economic liberalisation in China has brought an ancient and sinister trade back to life -- the kidnapping of women for sale as wives for lonely men. With remarkable access on an issue still classified by the government as 'sensitive', Martin Adler follows a private detective, Zhu Wenguang -- one of China's new breed of entrepreneurs - on the trail of his wives and daughters who've been abducted and sold. His investigation takes us thousands of miles to remote Inner Mongolia - only to find that, despite a government campaign to stamp out the trade, the local police refuse to rescue an abducted woman. A remarkable and beautiful film about an ancient practice abolished by communists, that's now coming back to haunt new China.

  • This is what happens when they execute the majority of girls. They become this rare find and it means that you can make money off of them. Sickening

  • @amerimashiro

lol you work for the propaganda ministry or something?

  • @nagaempress

lol wtf are you talking about? This is nothing new for China. The only real diffrence is communication. We are able to hear the stories and plights eaiser. But kidnapping and forced marriage has always been a problem in certain parts of China

  • Generally, the journeymanpictures report is not worth confidence. Especially when they treat asian countries.

  • @MrWixxer66 Oh, and Europe loves its Russian dolls. Literally speaking... the foster thing--though there it's facilitated by hospitals that take "rejected" babies--applies throughout Europe, but it's a bit crazier since there's no one language any given person is expected to be fluent in so trafficking/kidnapping is easier (according to intelligence/investigative documentation)+ pretty blonde-blues are at high risk in places that are still white supremacist laden, sadly all of Europe.Ppl suck!

  • Yay for killing off females as if they are "inferior" for years... agh. The only 3 second blip that isn't awful in this is the baby at 4:42 whose outfit makes him/her look like an ice cream sundae... what's horrible is to see that baby, see the daughter and know so many of them never get that bonding time again. I don't get why *Mongolia* is where any are sold UNLESS it's for (da da dahm) drugs. Not much else but cotton will grow out in SOME of those spots. Easy zone to smuggle through, though.

  • @MrWixxer66 West has sex trafficking of minors instead, some stolen from Asia, plenty of white girls, too. The foster care system is how THEY get sold(some boys, even): pretty equals profit. US' west coast is really bad (+Nevada&even Colorado, where they're easier to transport). So much for "so many want to adopt kids; abstinence only education,no birth control" politics--guess who's behind that money machine? Same asses who want these family values endorsed, surprise fucking surprise.

  • f.king Commis. This shit wouldnt happen in the west.

  • watching this is depressing

  • @nagaempress Same thing is going to happen in India with all the girl killings.

  • @Gurizin It probably made him really value her After she was stolen. You can hear it when he said now I am both morther and father to my children. He Knows now what his wife did for him not that she gone. He talks about the house work because she was his house wife, not his accountant. I am a house wife myself the first thing a husband notice after his wifes leaves for a visit is all the work she does that piles up after she has gone!!!
