In even fewer words: It is not to demonstrate how impressive it is, as it isn't, then what is it? Ah, it is the move Taikan does on Togo in the movie Kuro-Obi. Togo blocks it by the way, even though it realy is impossible.

ah very nice. This is from the special features disc yes? Didn't have it in the american copy DVD, but good to find. It's almost like being in a class with Naka-sensei! :)

Tatsuya naka is simply the best. His speed and timing is exceptional. I highly recommend watching his movies: kuro-obi and high kick girl.

Basicly, everyone who are in strike range, can strike each other so fast, that none of them can react fast enought to block/parry (unless you are psychic). That is also why people are moving outside of strike range, so they can see the strike coming: First the attacker have to move towards the defender, and strike, in that time the defender have time to react, and after many years of training even read the move of the attacker. In few words; no one fights this close as in the beginning of video.
