Free the Children of Hutto, Vigil of May 24, 2008

Human rights demonstration and vigil to free the incarcerated children and families from the T. Don Hutto detention facility located in Taylor, Texas. The "detained" immigrant children and families are refugees fleeing bloodshed, war, and poverty in their home countries. The immigrant families are being "detained" in a for-profit, retro-fitted medium-security prison managed by CCA (Corrections Corporation of America) at a cost to American taxpayers of $2.8 million per month. The families, awaiting immigration hearings, have NOT been charged with any crime. Children and families from over 41 countries and several continents have been detained for as long as 18 months at in the cells and cell blocks in Hutto.
