A diary of Ben Nevis part 4/5

After speaking to some people who were making the descent from the summit, we were told we would hit a steep slope with solid ice and snow. This was the point where everyone was turning back unless experience and correct equipment enabled them to proceed. After attempting to climb it I found myself on extremely unstable snow, and as a result kept falling through it up to my thigh. Where footing was solid, it was solid ice, and I began to slip downwards towards a 1500 ft or so drop.

Lochan Meall an t - Suidhe( 30 seconds on vid)is about 570metres, so my guess is you still have about 590 metres, if not more, to get to the summit.

that makes me feel worse! nooooo! obviously the man who told me otherwise clearly had no idea wha he was talking about then! and he claimed he was a pro too haha! I guess i know what im gonna be doing again this year then! :D
