Read "Broken Promises - What Went Wrong at IBM" and you will find out about the bastard Gerstner. He changed the culture to one where shareholder value was of utmost importance and the employees were a disposable resource. He lined his pocket with hundreds of millions of dollars and lived like a king whilst disposing of many long term, hard working, performing employees for the least possible cost. He destroyed the great IBM which was once a great company but is now just a third rate company.
