    José Iturbi made three short films in the early 40's. Two of them, Albéniz/Chopin and Rameau/Liszt, were made for people who wanted to study his technique. A third one was made for the GI's in the American army and shows Iturbi playing a waltz from Chopin and a boogie woogie while he talks to a group of young ladies. The three movies are available on 16mm films.

    I've watched several of his videos on

    YouTube and I am so impressed with Iturbi's

    articulation in runs and ornaments; so clean.

    A true poet of the keyboard. Gotta love him.

    Iturbi`s playing is so smooth and crisp, every note is clearly defined, he must rank among the best. I`ve never heard a more polished version of this particular

    piece.

    How I wish someone would upload Iturbi's magnificent recording of that wonderful piece by Lopez Chavarri entitled "El vieljo castillo moro!" In fact, I wish all of Irurbi's recorded legacy would be uploaded to YouTube; he made many memorable recordings. I think he was often in Rubinstein's shadow, but I find him a far more imaginative and interesting artist.
