Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian president, has proposed Vladimir Putin, the current prime minister, as presidential candidate for 2012, almost certainly guaranteeing Putin's return to office.

Medvedev made the proposal on Saturday in an address to a congress of United Russia, the pro-Kremlin party that dominates Russian politics.

Al Jazeera's Neave Barker reports from Moscow.

  • @MrSilver222 wow ok you clearly are Troll goodbye

  • @21boxhead Yeah, you know much more about Russia than I do. Ofcourse you haven't been here ever but you probably know better. I suggest you stop talking about things that you have no freaking idea because it looks and sounds retarded. Not just these statements, I mean you should stop doing that in general, thats retarded making conclusions based on couple pro-government videos.

  • Yeltsin made Putin provisional(temporary) president Dec31,1999 3months before 2000 election Temporary presidents serve out the remaining term of the outgoing president till next elections, so you are retard that knows nothing of politics.

  • @MrSilver222 OK, watch the link it makes sense why he made the move anyway, Medvedev made Putin candidate for presidency there both from same party and both friends everyone knows that, Putin is more popular and it will get more votes, it doesn't mean he's now president-elect it just mean he's the candidate for presidency, elections are not in till next year and if you still think its bullshit then you are retarded troll.

  • @21boxhead Everything you've said is bullshit. Everyone knows that Putin will be the next president because Russia has NEVER held fair elections. Eltzin decided that Putin will be president in 2000 not people, Putin decided that Medvedev will be the president in 2008 and now Medvedev did the same thing again, people decide nothing, elections are just a farce. If there were a fair elections, Putin would get about 5% not more. As I said, you praising Putin is the same if I praised Bush

  • @MrSilver222 also President Medvedev did explain himself why he did that move and give a straight answer

    /watch?v=1oDo7tvz1sE

  • @MrSilver222 GDP is way up since he took office he re-election won 70% of votes, of course there signs of corruption but in the end the majority of Russians seem to be happy. Now unlike Bush who left the economy is ruins Putin was complete opposite and left Russia stable economy. The only thing Bush and Putin have in common is there both "tough on terror". Putin is running not president yet but everyone knows he's going win because why? you even know he's going win.

  • @21boxhead Russia is stable country? Do you even live in Russia to say something like that? Its not stable, most of population hate Putin. I have no idea where you get this information, what you're saying is just ridiculous.

Its just like if I said that Bush was greatest American president and people there just love him. Imagine Bush came and said "I'll be your president for the next 6-12 years" and noone would be allowed to say a word. Cuz thats exactly what's happening right now in Russia

  • lots of powder on Putin's face lol

  • @MrSilver222 you mean thieves? they brought Russia from broke country to stable country

most Russians still like Putin even though its clear Medvedev messing with constitution, so Putin can go back in to power. If your popular president that's means there doing something right.
