On the original, (don't uploaded here) the last part of credits says: "in truth, good part of the footage was taken at Ilha dos Marinheiros, city near of Porto Alegre, 2km from Ilha das flores. All the rest is true. "
sorry for my bad english. hope it helps anyway.

@katycat222 Clearly not judging by your command of the language. Oh, and it IS a documentary.
@rockonley Good point. Pure landfill sites have a life of less than 20 years. Trash management sites (as indicated by the film) can keep going indefinately.
Like I said before, I don't want to take anything away from this film. It's one of my favourites. I have since found out that point 1 is wrong because of a poor translation. Apparently there is a version on YouTube with a better english narration.

"4). googlemaps - There is no trash dumping site on Ilha das Flores."
This vid is from 1989, how many trash dumping sites do you know that are over 20 years old?

Of course, he probably isn't rich, but being rich or better spoken being rich by exploiting and torturing other people turns him on. Salud!

@emirhc: I don´t even think he´s rich... but, for sure, he's an ignorant and evil bastard.
those first silent 30 seconds is: "We are in Belem Monte, Porto Alegre county, Rio Grade do Sul state, in the extreme south of Brazil. But precisely at latitude 30o, 12', 30" south, and longitude 51o, 11' 23" west. Walking in the moment through a tomato plantation we can see a human being standing, in this case a Japanese man..."
