AS far as speeds are concerned D.C. has BART beat. Above ground the trains do 90. They no longer allow passengers to see the readouts (I saw it in the mid 80's). Here in NY the trains are limited to 50 because the tracks will not allow faster speeds and most stations are too close together to allow the acceleration and safe braking, but they are working on that with unit welding all of the tracks and replacing the signal system for faster service.

@thepostfk But the crap that is on history channel today is about all sorts of crap like did Jesus marry Mary Magdalene, how did that universe form? and all sorts of other crap. I just wish it could just be documentaries like the history of Disney, railroading, or any of that sort. That's right, get a life history channel! :p

You said it goes up to 80 miles/hour? That's intense. Subways here only hit 50 kilometers a hour...ehh thats around 30 miles/hour and we still get derailments.

Autopilot for normal operation.. Manual for when stuff goes wrong....
