  • @eskorbutin89 4'33 was a comment by Cage that allowed people to realize the beauty of sounds that are not words or music. He prepares the audience to listen actively by placing it in a concert and thus they listen to the beautiful sounds that are often forgotten. It serves as a reminder to remember the beauty of simple sounds such as the person next to you breathing or the tapping of the foot belonging to the person across the aisle. For his love of sound that he reminds us of what we forget.

  • @aanderlini the fact that he could create a piece that elicits such strong reactions even decades later, makes it a success. And thinking about why it was done makes me aware that we creating music/sounds every momement of every day, but we usually forget it, or think that it is not deserving of admiration and wonder

  • @machew100 At no point did you think that maybe that was his intention and that he wanted this song to sound like a little kid playing around on a toy piano?

  • @thatkid82093 bullshit its just fucking silence and people coughing and not fucking understanding what is going on. CHODE STATUS

  • I've tried for forty years to understand this guy. I've come to the conclusion that he's a fraud. In art there are frauds. He's one. In the music world, he's famous for being famous.

  • @thatkid82093 the guy didn't have any talent but he wanted to get famous so what does he do? GO CRAZY!

  • @musicguy904 Very true. I actually am looking for something by this man that I like. Any comment I make is met with a: "you just don't understand"... I think anybody who claims that this music elicits emotion are only doing so to feel that they are more creative or open minded than "prudes" like myself.

  • @machew100 i agree completely. there is nothing gorgeous about this piece. but music and the appreciation of it has sadly come to the point where people are criticized for disliking this type of composition.

  • 59 guys thinks that John Cage is the Fighter in "Mortal Kombat"

  • absolutely crap....sigh...what has music come to

  • @machew100 it's crap dude
