Until recently, the twin cities of El Paso in the USA and Juarez in Mexico functioned as one community.
Now, due to the the US government "War on Terror" and the less official "War on Mexicans", the wall between the two has become hardened and militarized much to the dismay of Mexicans and Mexican Americans on both sides of the fence. Kimberly Halkett reports.

  • It is truely amazing how Mexico blames the US for its issues. You fly the mexican flag in Juarez like it is a resort or a place very special but in reality you live in a 3rd world country run by people who have ties in the drug cartels and then tell the US it's our fault becuase some do drugs. Just a question or two: Why is it that the mexican cartels are killing mexican people??? Why is Juarez the most violent city in the world??? Your government is allowing this to happen!! FAIL MEXICO

  • @TheLivingHermit1 I wish I could say the same, but I can't. It has weakened the relationship between both cities. Ask anyone living in El Paso if they would cross to my hometown Juarez, and most people's reaction will be "no way!". Now I'm not saying everyone will do that, but most will, and it's not anyone's fault but the cartels, and both governments, as always. Mexico and the US have really great people, places, tradition, culture, it's just that we are run by idiots! God bless democracy!!...

  • @ennoidyam fancy that, i moved from germany to el paso and was wondering where america went, then i joined the army and came right back to germany. el paso had potential but theres way too many problems. im glad i left and vow to never live there again

  • Back a few years before this report we used to cross to JTown to party lol... now its not such a good idea... to much crap going on with the cartel

  • @juarezlegitimo No, probably legalizing certain things would help both sides

  • @juarezlegitimo I agree totally.

  • @AlexPanacro That's true, but there is a policy that is truly destroying Mexico more than anything: North America Free-Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This makes many things free from tariffs or taxes between Canada, USA, and Mexico. So that means sections of Mexico will be underdeveloped, people will flock to Northern Mexico to get jobs that are already filled while cities are unable to deal with high increase in population. You can see an example by looking at Juarez from El Paso's side of the Rio.
