In canada everyone is covered. But you are put on a waiting list which could be several months when you only have weeks. In America you have companies that can choose not to help you at all, or you can go through a lawsuit and maybe get covered for a discount of 2%. Personally I think insurers are worse.

TY BILL!! Recent polls have said that over 60 percent of the people want a total reform and a free for all government health care system.
Obama is trying to please both sides and in doing so we'll end up with a mess. And i like Obama...but come on ...stand up...listen to the people and do something. Dont half ass it...do it all the way...we'll never have another chance like now to get this done. Who cares if some poll says you dropped 3 percent in approval...let history be your judge!!

Then we must eliminate the:
The FDC - no guarantee of pure food or drugs
National Parks System - no guarantee of parks
Medicaid/Medicare - no guarantee of healthcare
The EPA - no guarantee of clean air
FCC - no guarantee of freedom from obscenity
The TVA, rural electrification - no guarantee of power
The preamble to the constitution does mention welfare

Regarding health care reform, the best thing we can do is to actually read the bill, provided we have enough time to read it, then make a decision based on what we have read. It's easy to choose a political party and form a bias based on our own preference; however, nothing beats cold, hard facts that us as individuals find ourselves. I would question anything a politician or celebrity is telling people. Remember, the politicians and celebrities, regardless of party, have an ulterior motive.

I have heard the argument against universal health care stating it will cut benefits off from the elderly; however, the question is how? Has anyone actually read this bill? I doubt it. 2nd, do you really think the goal of a private health insurer is your well being? I don't think so. Insurance, like banking is based on the good faith the more premium will be collected than claims made; therefore, get too expensive, and you're dropped. Questions is, who's worse, government, or insurers?

I always hear the "money more important than life" argument but I get confused by it. In order to make a universal care system work, they'd have to cut a lot of the elderly off, which seems just as lacking in compassion, if not more so.
Also, the Constitution does not guarantee a right to healthcare any more than it guarantees the right to a High-def TV. If the Constitution got amended I'd feel differently, but I take a more constructionist view of it than most.

I agree 100%. I love how the conservative argument paints this picture of poor innocent pharmaceutical companies, and health insurers who just want to make a profit. What's wrong with that? This is the ridiculous argument I read in Fortune magazine defending private health insurance. The question is, why can't all Americans be entitled to health care? Is money more important than life? There is so much misinformation, and deception about universal health care. I hope Americans will get educated.
