  • @puppynamedmoleson100 Yeah, The fuze was still burning so it impacted the ground and probably drove down in the ground about a few feet then exploded. Its better and more effective when the shell explodes above the ground showering everything below it with shrapnel.

  • @PsychoScientist007 well the explosive would have been blackpowder or gun cotton in the 1860's and that had a inpact detanator witch plugs the hole that was use to fill the shell

  • @PsychoScientist007 A primary explosive would detonate upon firing due to "set back". An iron ball filled with black powder and a time fuze works just fine.
