A retake at the Marriott Copley Place hotel in Boston, MA, with a view from the 38th floor. Who needs the Pru or John Hancock building (pre-2001), when this view is free!

  • As you've seen in my FB photos, I do love going up here, but it just doesn't beat the Hancock's massive floor-to-ceiling edgeless glass windows with that thin steel rail. The Pru's SkyWalk is literally just an empty typical floor and Top of the Hub has big windows, but they have chunky mullions. The Hancock was also the only tower with a view of the Common because as you and anyone else can see, the Hancock completely blocks that view from the Marriott CP and the Pru.

  • @ElevatingBoston All good points, but a nice "free" view nonetheless :)

  • @jtelev I've just been extremely bitter since the 2001 closure of it because the observatory was a legal provision to get the tower approved. It had to have a public observatory. It also has Boston's only double-deck elevators, which were among the first in the world.

  • @ElevatingBoston Ya.... I was lucky to go up there once before it closed, that was probably in '98. I recall Otis touch sensitive with italic numbers?? I also remember walking thru the old Ritz.... manually operated elevators, attendants with white gloves.... long gone

  • AWESOME!! that is probably a FUN elevator!

  • @dieselducy It is, but the Fujitecs at the Westin next door are even wilder lol

  • Very nice, I like those classic doors.. also nice walls.

  • @alpaljl If you think the walls are nice, the entire Copley Place complex is drenched in pink marble imported from Italy.

  • Yep, those are cool elevators. A little glitchy at times, but that is the Westinghouse we know and love!

  • Gorgeous walls in the cab. That's for sure.

  • @dieselducy yes i agree.

looks good for an older westy. floor chirp is very different. this should have destination dispatch. lots of places to film in Boston. stone walls still looks nice. older elevators are fun to look at too.
