Great Video I just finished my first fly, a zebra midge and your video helped understand the basic techniques. I think I need to get a large magnifying glass though, at 57 the eyes don't work very good even with glasses. Thanks very much
i must admit very impressive im actually thinking about getting started in this kind of hobby it just seems kinda hard and challenging with all the possibilities does anyone think this can be self taught with videos like this cause i dont know anybody that ties flies and i live in florida were fishing is plentiful
you should deffinately start fly tying...it is hard to tie dry flys at first and they are a little expensive to get started in but start out with nymphs and streamers and you will be tying store quaility if not better phesant tail nypmhs in maybe 1 month
oh yea id say it could be self taught...i learned how to cast properly by watchin fly cstin vids....im gonna start fly tying once i buy a vise. my plan was hook vise to comp desk n watch vid while tyin the fly. it would be like him teachin u personally lol
Yeah fly tying can be self taught with the videos and books available. I'm learning as well and the videos help alot. you just have to jump right in and try to find a local fly shop if you can.
On a whim I thought I would type in a search for fly tying and this video came up. I knew absolutely nothing about fly tying but I am very impressed with your skill and craftsmanship in this video series. Very good work!
hey man i'm 13 and as you can see no lie from my videos. i started tying when i was 12. and trust me it is an expensive hobby. i got a starter kit with a 40 dollar vise and a month later in Canada for a fly fishing trip i got a great deal, 50 bucks for a 200 vise down here. but my whoel set up is prolly 400 bucks with feathers and everything. and i'm not even half done with my collection of materials.
