I rode in the cab of an F7 back in '71 when working for the Soo. It was in Marshfield and we went to pick up train #27 whose crew had "died." It was an amazing feeling peering out the front window of the F.

@F7railfan The F's also supposedly had better ride qualities than their contemporaries the GP7/9's although they were mechanically similar. They were more suited for road freights and passenger trains than for local switching. Both are true classics not unlike mid 1950's automobiles.

That loco has a Westinghouse E2 facing one way and a Leslie A200 facing the other. They are tied together presently off that one lanyard.

Nothing like a cab ride in an E unit or F-unit. My oldest daughter got one when she was 'still in the womb' in 1981 on a Southern Diesel excursion from Knoxville, Tennessee to Cumberland Gap, Tennessee with a 'train turn' at Middlesboro, Kentucky. Those were the days!
