not really, it has a night mode but it's not that night vision in the green tones you're probably looking for... I love this camer a though! 2 yrs later it's still a beast!

If you want to use it for professional and broadcast use the hv30 is better coz most hard drive based camcorders record on compressed signals such as mpeg2 loosing a considerable amount of quality

plus compressed signals have a lot of issues on editing and most professional editing programs dont even accept the format. However the hf11 will save you allot of time money and hassle buying cassettes and real-time capturing.
